Devil's Tree Fight

St. Takla Haymanot, “The Wonderworker,” bravely shared Christ’s love! Tradition says God sent him to a place called Ketana, where people worshiped a strange tree with evil spirits, led by unkind magicians. Takla prayed with all his heart, asking Jesus to show His power. Some say, with Archangel Michael’s help through Christ’s grace, the tree shook and fell, stopping the evil.

Tradition says the falling tree hurt some people, but Takla prayed, and Christ healed them. An evil spirit even shouted, “Jesus Christ is the true God!” Some say many thousands, maybe 111,500, believed and were baptized. The people built a church there, and Ethiopian icons show Takla defeating evil, per The Churches of Ethiopia. For kids, taught in Sunday school, Takla’s prayer was like a hero’s power, making a bad place holy, showing Christ always wins.
