St. Takla Haymanot, called “The Wonderworker,” lived a life close to Christ! Tradition says after training at a monastery called Adgway in Fakharany with Monk John, an angel guided him to a cave in a deep valley. To reach it, he climbed down a cliff with a rope, like monks at Debre Damo. Some say one day, the rope snapped, but Takla prayed, and through Christ’s grace, Archangel Michael helped him, giving him six shining wings to float safely down, amazing the monks who praised God.
In Ethiopian icons, Takla is painted with six wings, showing he’s a saint close to heaven, per The Churches of Ethiopia. Monks shared this story, proving Takla was chosen to serve Christ. Kids today learn in Sunday school that Takla’s wings mean God protects us when we trust Him, celebrated on 24 Nehase.
