Lost Boy Miracle

One of Pope Kyrillos VI’s beloved stories from the 1960s, when he was pope, still inspires Coptic hearts. One tale says a mother in Alexandria lost her young son during a crowded festival. She prayed at Saint Mina’s Church, asking Kyrillos to intercede. That night, she dreamt he stood by the sea, pointing to a boat. Through Kyrillos’ intercession, guided by Christ, she found her son safe on a fisherman’s boat at dawn, saying a kind man helped him.

This story lives on in Coptic hearts. In 2008, one tale says a Cairo father prayed to Kyrillos when his daughter vanished at a market, and a dream guided him to her, unharmed. In Coptic communities, similar tales, like a child found after prayers in 1975, spread hope. For children, these are stories of a saint’s intercession—when someone is lost, God helps through Kyrillos’ prayers. These miracles reflect God’s care for every tear, big or small.

These stories are a sign of God’s love. They tell kids that through Kyrillos’ intercession, God guides them home, just as he did for that mother long ago.
