Glowing Icons

St. Yared’s icons, painted with his gentle face and harp, inspire with spiritual light, treasures that draw prayers in Orthodox churches worldwide. Some believe in Lalibela, an icon began to glow and inspired awe during Yared’s feast, as singers chanted a hymn called Yared Ze-Mezmur, moving elders to whisper of miracles. Tradition says in Aksum, an icon inspired a boy practicing Araray through Yared’s intercession, giving him courage to lead the choir. These images are windows to Yared’s legacy, inspiring those who sing for God.

Such icons inspire faith across generations. Some believe an Orthodox church in Cairo keeps a Yared icon that children touch before liturgies, helping them sing confidently. Some believe a painter struggled with Yared’s portrait until he hummed Me’eraf, and the painting succeeded, as if through Yared’s intercession. For children, these sacred icons are like stars in church, showing Yared’s legacy inspires their hymns to Christ.
