Around 303–305 AD, after endless trials, the governor ruling Mena’s fate ordered his beheading. Most would tremble, but one tale says Mena walked to the execution ground singing, his face glowing with faith. Tradition says he prayed for the crowd, urging them to follow Christ. On 15 Hatour, as the sword fell, through God’s grace, he entered heaven, and one tale says some saw a light rise above. His death wasn’t an end—it was a victory that inspired hundreds to follow Christ.
This was Mena’s greatest wonder, a joyful witness showing death could be faced with courage. In Ethiopian tradition, he is honored as a martyr who embraced Christ in martyrdom. One tale says a woman watching vowed to raise her children Christian, moved by Mena’s fearless love. For kids, this story teaches that heaven is worth every step, and Mena’s courageous witness can lift their hearts to trust God through anything.
