St. Ignatius Lives Today

God-Bearer's Power

St. Ignatius, called Theophoros, intercedes for those who seek his prayers, through Christ’s strength. In Coptic churches on 7 Abib, families light candles, seeking his intercession to guard their homes. One Coptic tale says a boy in Alexandria, named Mina, sought Ignatius’ intercession when scared of bullies, holding an icon. Through Christ’s grace, he found courage, spoke kindly, and the bullies relented. Copts honor Ignatius’ intercession as a shield, through his martyr’s faith in Christ.

In Ethiopia, some honor him with chants, seeking his prayers. One tale says a farmer in Tigray sought Ignatius’ intercession during a drought, and clouds brought relief, seen as Christ’s grace. His intercession, through Christ’s power, inspires children to face fears and families to find hope. Ignatius’ love draws young hearts to Christ, teaching that seeking saints’ prayers strengthens faith. Guided by God’s grace, his witness inspires Coptic and Syrian youth to trust in Christ.
