Relics That Heal

Relics of St. George, like chains and tomb fragments, are treasured across the Orthodox world. In Cairo’s Coptic churches, tradition says chains from his imprisonment rest in special reliquaries. Some say through George’s intercession, God grants miracles like freeing people from evil spirits or healing the sick. Some say a fragment from his Lydda tomb, kept in Mit Damsis, once helped restore a blind child's sight through God’s power.

In Ethiopia, tradition says relics in St. George’s Cathedral in Addis Ababa are linked to victories like the Battle of Adwa. These relics are not just objects but gifts of grace, through which God works wonders by St. George’s intercession with Christ. For Orthodox children, these relics show St. George’s love, bringing God’s help to those who pray.
