In Coptic and Ethiopian churches, hymns lift up St. George’s name during his feasts. Tradition says the Coptic hymn “Hail to You, O Martyr” praises his courage, sung with solemn beauty in monasteries like St. Macarius. Some say in Ethiopia, “Giyorgis Ze-Gadla” celebrates his dragon-slaying bravery, its melody soaring as debtera cantors lead worship in churches like St. George’s Cathedral in Addis Ababa.
These songs, passed down through ages in Ge'ez manuscripts and Coptic Difnar, weave St. George’s faith into worship. Sung during processions and feasts, they lift hearts to Christ through his prayers and example. For Orthodox children, these hymns make St. George’s story a melody of faith, uniting past and present in praise of God.
