Frumentius' Living Love

Quick to Guide

St. Frumentius, known as Abba Salama, is a holy protector who is quick to intercede for those who pray to him. Long after he left this world, people in Ethiopia and beyond trust his ready intercession. Some believe that in Aksum, a family once asked for Abba Salama's intercession to find their lost child in the busy market, and they found her safe thanks to a bright light, giving thanks for his help.

In Ethiopia, people honor him as their protector, turning to him when lost or afraid. Stories say Abba Salama once interceded for a traveler during a storm who then found safety, showing his care. For Ethiopian children, he is a beloved saint in times of need; for Coptic children, he is a missionary whose mission continues through his prayers. His prompt intercession shows his love for God’s people, always guiding us to Christ.

Frumentius’ ready intercession reflects his holy love, whether for a lost child or a worried parent. His care makes him a friend we can rely on, proving he remains Ethiopia’s light today. Through his prayers, God works to help us, making Abba Salama a cherished saint for all.
