Frumentius' Living Love

Dreams of Peace

St. Frumentius, known as Abba Salama, not only helps when we’re awake but appears in dreams, bringing peace and strength. Tradition says that in the 1200s, St. Takla Haymanot, a great Ethiopian saint, was weary from preaching. He dreamed of Abba Salama encouraging him to continue sharing Christ’s teachings, renewing his strength. This holy vision guided him forward.

Some believe St. Yared, the creator of Ethiopia’s sacred hymns, dreamed of Abba Salama inspiring his music, which is still cherished today. One story says a monk prayed for help, and Abba Salama guided him through a vision pointing to a Bible verse, bringing clarity. These visions bring calm and courage, like a father’s care. For Ethiopian children, Abba Salama guides others through prayer; for Coptic children, he remains a missionary tied to their Church.

Abba Salama’s guidance through visions reflects his holy care. He doesn’t shout but offers hope, helping saints and all people persevere. These holy visions show he intercedes for us, proving he is Ethiopia’s light. Through his prayers, God strengthens us, making Abba Salama a beloved saint today.
