Kyrillos and His Holy Friends

With Saint Mina

Pope Kyrillos VI and Saint Mina the Wonderworker were spiritually united, like brothers in faith. In the 1920s, as Father Mina, Kyrillos asked for Saint Mina's prayers, a 3rd-century martyr. Tradition says that during a windmill attack by robbers, through Saint Mina’s intercession, guided by Christ, Kyrillos was saved from harm. As pope, Kyrillos built Saint Mina Monastery in Mariut, where miracles bloom like desert flowers. One tale says that in 2005, a pilgrim prayed there, and through their intercession, guided by Christ, her lost ring was found by the shrine.

Icons of Kyrillos and Saint Mina, like those at Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Abbasseya, inspire devotion through their intercession. One tale says a Cairo child in 2010 prayed for his sick puppy, and through their intercession, it recovered. Copts honor both saints, trusting their prayers. For children, it’s like saints’ shared intercession—God works through Kyrillos and Mina to answer prayers. One tale says a 2020 fire near Saint Mina’s Church stopped after a hymn, through their intercession, guided by Christ.

Their bond shows saints’ intercession unites us. God’s grace through Kyrillos and Mina’s intercession guides us to Christ, teaching kids faith brings miracles, like a river of love.
