Pope Kyrillos VI is remembered in Ethiopia for helping their church grow strong. In 1959, as pope, he ordained Abuna Basilios as the first patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, a historic step for their independence after centuries of ties to Alexandria. This act built a bridge of faith between Copts and Ethiopians, uniting them in Christ’s love. In 1965, Kyrillos visited Ethiopia, praying with Emperor Haile Selassie, leaving a warm memory of friendship.
Copts cherish this bond, seeing Kyrillos as a saint who strengthened Christian unity. One tale says his prayers during the 1965 visit, through his intercession, brought rain to dry fields, inspiring hope. For children, it’s like hearing your uncle helped a faraway town, making you proud. Coptic children hear stories of Kyrillos’ kindness, feeling close to his intercession. His legacy inspires quiet gratitude in some hearts.
Kyrillos’ work shows saints unite us in God’s love, teaching kids faith builds big families across borders, singing together in Christ’s joy.
