Hymns of Praise

Saint Takla Haymanot’s hymns of praise are beautiful songs that lift his story to heaven through Christ, making you want to sing along! In Ethiopia, monks and kids chant, tradition says, “Takla Haimanot Ze-Gadla” in the Deggua style—old music by Saint Yared—with drums and sistrums adding a joyful beat. Some say the words praise “Takla Haimanot, righteous monk, with thy wings thou didst soar,” celebrating his flight down the valley and prayers through Christ. During feasts at Debre Libanos on 24 Nehase, these hymns echo through the hills, making everyone feel Takla’s love through Christ, like he’s singing too.

In Alexandria, Copts sing, tradition says, “Hail to You, O Righteous Monk” at Vespers, a simple song praising his work fighting the devil in Ketana. Kids hum it near his mosaic, imagining his wings moving to the rhythm. These hymns are more than music—they call Takla to help through Christ, and some say the air feels holier when they’re sung. For kids today, Saint Takla’s hymns are like a secret handshake with heaven, keeping his miracles and love through Christ loud and clear!
