St. Mary's Living Presence

St. Mary is called “The Repentant” because she’s a powerful helper for sinners, even now. In the Coptic Church, we pray to her when we sin, knowing she understands—she was a sinner once too! Some say she inspired Zosimas to guide his monastery better, sharing wisdom from heaven. Ethiopian monks see her as a Lenten guide, encouraging them to fast and pray with her desert strength. She’s like a big sister in heaven, asking Christ to give us second chances.

Kids love that Mary stayed humble—she signed her death note “Mary the Sinner,” even as a saint. In Coptic churches, families pray to her for help with struggles or sadness, feeling her peace. She’s quick to pray for us, just like she turned to the desert for God. Her helping hands reach down from heaven, showing us anyone can turn from their sins with her prayers supporting them.
