One tale says St. Frumentius, known as Abba Salama, guided St. Gabra Manfas Qeddus, a holy ascetic of the 14th or 15th century, through a vision in Ethiopia’s deserts. Gabra, who lived among lions and prayed fervently, faced a moment of need in a remote desert, weary and without water. A legend says he sought Abba Salama’s intercession, and a vision of divine guidance led him to a spring through God’s grace. Strengthened, Gabra continued his mission of sharing God’s love.
Some say this help inspired Gabra’s witness, cherished by monks. One story says a sign of God’s protection kept danger away, like a threat in the desert. For Ethiopian children, this honors their saint’s legacy; for Coptic children, it celebrates his missionary guidance. Gabra’s mission was strengthened by God’s grace through Abba Salama’s prayers, showing care for the faithful. Through his intercession, Abba Salama inspires children to trust God, uniting them in Ethiopia’s holy legacy.
