Angel Boat Escape

One of St. Athanasius’ famous tales is his angel boat escape in 362 AD! Emperor Julian, a mean pagan, sent soldiers down the Nile to grab him, but stories say Athanasius hopped in a boat to flee. The soldiers were close—shouting and rowing fast—when suddenly, legend says the boat was wrapped in a thick mist. The bad guys couldn’t see a thing and sailed right past! The story says Athanasius laughed and thanked God for the heavenly rescue.

This wasn’t just luck—it was God showing off through Athanasius. Coptic kids love this story because it’s like a chase scene where the good guy wins with angel backup. It’s a tale that says no matter how scary things get, Athanasius and Jesus have got your back!
